Chapter 1: Point and Shoot

Chapter 1: Point and Shoot!

Doesn’t matter if you have or don't have a DSLR camera. Nowadays everyone is having a DSLR, but the truth is that it does not matter if you have a professional gear. Pro photographers can click amazing pictures using normal (or sub normal) cameras as well.

The expensive gear does help, but before buying an expensive camera you need to put time and effort to practice. For now use your existing camera or your cellphone camera or maybe a borrowed camera.

This being said; I will suggest you to buy a good camera later which will have more manual controls. But more advanced controls means more complications unless you learn how to master it. And that’s what you will learn here step-by-step.
Right now we will learn how to point and shoot.

Do It:
  • Put your camera on automatic mode - any camera which you have.
  • For now go and click pictures of anything. Anything and everything you can find. Click as many as you can, take 4 - 7 days for this exercise or till you are satisfied.
  • Once you have clicked many pictures - save them on your Computer. Look closely which ones seems interesting to you and think why.
  • Delete the ones which you are very sure that you don't like and proceed to next chapter once you are delighted by the pics now saved on your computer. Don't compare the results with others for now. That time will come later.

Let me show some samples below which I clicked using Auto Mode:

A very simple way to learn photography

This website makes you learn photography in a very simple way.

You are going to learn Photography by working through multiple brilliantly crafted exercises. If you have read the book ‘Learn Python The Hard Way’ then you know how this course works.

Made for beginners who know not much about photography, this blog will teach you the basics of photography bit by bit. You need to follow each chapter and finish the ‘hard way bit’.
The hard way is what follows in the end of each chapter where you need to practice a very simple 'Do It' section which is the crust of learning photography.

Let each exercise seep in until you move into new chapter

Is this blog is going to work?
Yes.
Especially if you spend too much time obsessing over the latest camera launches and browsing over which camera to buy section on the popular photography blogs, watching YouTube videos and following blogs and forums. You spend so much time on it that you actually don’t have time to go out and actually shoot!

This blog will make you try out your photography skills.
